REWIND is getting fashionable — but as always, you can come as you are!
The Wolfson Archives salutes Miami Dade College’s new Fashion Institute with a new series of screenings in September. From noon to 1:00 PM every Tuesday and Thursday we’ll look back on the styles of the 1980s and find out how a high-fashion dress got put together in Miami’s garment industry of the 1960s.
And from 1:00 to 1:30 PM we’ll screen longer-form shows from our collections. On Tuesdays: “Pooh For President,” a crazy kids show from 1968 set at a political convention for the pint-sized set pitting beloved bear Winnie the Pooh against the wicked Rodney Rottenwolf. Who will win the Pink House? Find out, and check out some stylish Winnie the Pooh fashions for kids from Sears!
On Thursdays we look back on news events of 1961, from Freedom Riders and civil rights swim-ins to spring break shenanigans and the Bay of Pigs.
REWIND is presented every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 1:30 PM. Admission is free and you’re welcome to bring lunch! REWIND is presented by the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
