Keep Your Eyes On the Road!

The Big Cobra at the Miami Serpentarium

The Big Cobra at the Miami Serpentarium caught many a motorist’s eye on US1.

Grab your road map and get ready to hit the highway! The Wolfson Archives is delighted to team up with historian and history educator Sylvia Gurinsky to present a new series of real-time interactive documentaries — “Roadside Miami!” Mixing historic film clips and entertaining commentary, “Roadside Miami” will explore the exciting, enticing roadside tourist attractions that tempted tourists in the days Before Disney.

We’re talking about the Serpentarium (pictured) — the Seaquarium — all of those jungles in South Dade, including the Monkey Jungle, Parrot Jungle and Orchid Jungle, and many more classic roadside attractions! Dates and locations will be announced soon. All events will be free of charge and open to the public.

So keep your eyes peeled and be on the lookout for giant concrete cobras — this is a South Florida road trip you won’t want to miss!
